UMass Boston building evacuated after bomb threat
A University of Massachusetts Boston science building was briefly evacuated this morning after the school received a bomb threat, university officials said.
University public safety personnel responded to the campus’s Science Center at 11:30 a.m. after receiving a claim that a bomb had been placed in the building, said DeWayne Lehman, a university spokesman.
All students, faculty, and staff were safely evacuated so the building could be inspected by State Police and bomb-sniffing dogs, Lehman said.
Around 1:35 p.m., the inspection was completed and the building was determined to be safe. No injuries were reported.
