Martha’s Vineyard restaurant Hooked snags celebrities
The new Martha’s Vineyard restaurant Hooked (formerly Lola’s) is attracting a bevy of boldfacers. In the past few days, “Rush Hour’’ actor Chris Tucker was in for dinner with Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., and CNN anchor T.J. Holmes celebrated his birthday (much to the delight, we’re told, of the women in the restaurant). Also over the weekend, HarperCollins/Amistad publisher Dawn Davis hosted a book brunch at Hooked, and guests included Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Isabel Wilkerson, author of “The Warmth of Other Suns’’;
Roni DeLuz, coauthor of “21 Pounds in 21 Days: The Martha’s Vineyard Diet Detox’’; and BET cofounder Sheila Johnson, who’s one of the producers of “The Butler,’’ director Lee Daniels’s movie about Eugene Allen, a White House butler for several presidents. Johnson chatted about the star-studded cast, which includes Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Terrence Howard, Jane Fonda, Mariah Carey, Robin Williams (who plays Dwight Eisenhower), John Cusack (who plays Richard Nixon), and James Marsden (who plays John F. Kennedy
