Elizabeth Beisel wants to be a broadcaster

PROVIDENCE — Olympic silver medalist swimmer Elizabeth Beisel is already looking toward her next challenge — a possible career in broadcasting.

Beisel told WPRO that a broadcasting job is ‘‘a dream’’ of hers. She is majoring in journalism at the University of Florida.

The 19-year-old Beisel won a bronze medal in the 200-meter backstroke and silver in the 400-meter individual medley.

She is from the Saunderstown section of North Kingstown.

Beisel said she received an outpouring of support from fans in Rhode Island and read every message sent to her.

She said she cheered so hard for the US team that she nearly lost her voice and had ‘‘an amazing’’ week in London that she’ll remember forever.
