Faulty circuit seen as cause of $150,000 Dorchester house fire
A faulty circuit in a kitchen ceiling light fixture sparked a fire in a home on Oldfields Road in Dorchester this morning that caused $150,000 in damage, the Boston Fire Department said.
Firefighters were called at 11 a.m. to 21 Oldfields Road and discovered a fire in the first-floor apartment of a two-story brick house. The fire was confined to the first floor; the residents on the second floor have been allowed to stay in the building.
A building inspector has also been called to look into a possible hoarding situation in the first-floor unit, fire officials said.
