No bacon and eggs today at Buddy’s Diner.

The state Revenue Department has seized a historic diner in Somerville for non-payment of more than $25,000 in meal taxes.

The vintage 1929 Worcester lunch car at 113 Washington St. began its career in Leominster but was moved to the Somerville area in the 1950s.

A neon orange sign proclaimed “Seized’’ in big bold letters on the window of the diner.

Efforts to contact the owner, Nicole Bairos, were unsuccessful. The restaurant was seized on Wednesday.

Numerous customers arrived at the diner today and expressed disappointment that it was closed. And they wondered if they had taken their last bite of the no-frills dishes offered at the eatery, such as pancakes and hash browns.
