Rob Gronkowski bares (almost) all in new ESPN the Magazine
Now you see him, now you see more of him. Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who already was a bit overexposed, has upped the ante, appearing naked on the cover of the new issue of ESPN The Magazine. The mag’s annual “Body Issue,’’ which the editors call a “celebration of the athletic form,’’ features 27 athletes in all, and six special covers. (In addition to Gronk, Jose Bautista, Tyson Chandler, Daniela Hantuchova, Candace Parker, and Ronda Rousey also flaunt their flesh on the cover.) And how does Gronk maintain his taut physique? A lot of sweets. “I love candy, and I love ice cream,’’ he tells the magazine. “I kind of ration it out; if I have a lot of ice cream, I’ll make sure I do a couple of extra sprints the following day. Just balance it out. But if every once in a while I have a Snickers bar, there’s no harm in that.’’ In other Gronk news, he went back home to Buffalo this week and competed in a celebrity home run derby at the Triple-A All-Star Game. Of course, because the Bills are a rival of the Pats, the All-Pro pass catcher heard it from the crowd. “I heard the boos, but I think the cheers were louder. It’s all part of it and it was fun,’’ said Gronk, who managed to win the event with 12 total home runs. Also taking part were Bills CEO Russ Brandon, Bills running back Fred Jackson, Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta, and Bills Hall of Fame QB Jim Kelly.
