Taxi driver, passenger injured in taxi crash in downtown Boston
Two people were taken to area hospitals this afternoon after a taxi flipped over as a result of a crash at the intersection of Albany and Traveler streets, authorities said.
According to police, a taxi and a Volvo were both traveling outbound on Albany Street approaching the intersection with Traveler Street around 2 p.m. The Volvo, traveling in the center lane, attempted to make a left turn and crashed into the taxi, which was in the left lane, police said.
One person in the overturned taxi was trapped and had to be extricated, but police and fire officials did not know if the person was the driver or a passenger. The driver was transported to Boston Medical Center and the passenger to Tufts Medical Center. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
The driver of the Volvo was not injured. The crash remains under investigation, police said.
