Singer-songwriter and NBC’s “The Sing-Off’’ judge Ben Folds was the VIP performer and host of Saturday night’s “A Cappella Palooza!’’ at Agganis Arena, a benefit for the Mass General Cancer Center. About 4,000 Mass General supporters were in the audience to see a cappella groups such as Boston University’s Dear Abbeys, and two recent “Sing-Off’’ acts, the Dartmouth Aires and North Shore. … In other reality singing competition news, former Boston resident and recent Harvard Foundation Artist of the Year John Legend will appear on the ABC show “Duets,’’ which premieres May 24.
