If it’s the Sunday closest to St. Patrick’s Day, it’s the time for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in South Boston – and the political roast that precedes it.

The roast was started by former Boston mayor and Massachusetts Governor James Michael Curley and really reached its local famed under the guidance of former Senate President William M. Bulger.

Representative Stephen F. Lynch and his successor as South Boston’s state senator, Jack Hart, have maintained the tradition.

Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray, US Senate candidates Elizabeth Warren and Scott Brown, as well as congressional candidate Joseph P. Kennedy III are likely targets.

The Wolfe Tones will be providing music.
