Gisele Bundchen shares the wealth
While her husband is prepping for Saturday’s game against Tim Tebow’s Denver Broncos, Gisele Bundchen is in, of all places, Kenya. And Bundchen isn’t walking a runway. Tom Brady’s supermodel spouse is there as a United Nations Environment Programme Goodwill Ambassador promoting small-scale sustainable energy projects. We’re not surprised. For all of her money – and she’s got millions – the Brazilian beauty gives back. Forbes.com just released a list of the 30 most generous celebrities, and Bundchen ranks No. 15. (The list, compiled by the Giving Back Fund, is based on public records and interviews with charities known for their celebrity affiliations.) No. 1? “Less Than Zero’’ actress Jami Gertz and her husband Anthony Ressler, who donated a whopping $10.5 million to the Ressler-Gertz Foundation. (The foundation is focused on education and technology and provides scholarships, financial aid, and awards.) Gertz is a successful actress/producer, but her husband is also the co-founder of an LA investment firm, Ares Capital, which has more than $40 billion in assets. Also ranking ahead of Bundchen, who’s cited for her $1.5 million donation to the Red Cross for Haiti Relief, are musician Herb Alpert ($9.1 million), Mel Gibson ($6.8 million), writer Nora Roberts ($3 million), and TV producer Marcy Carsey ($1.8 million). “Encouragement by example is the main reason we compile this list,’’ Giving Back Fund president Marc Pollick said in a statement. Combined, the 30 celebrities account for $64 million in charitable donations.
