Cambridge boy charged with two more sex assaults

A 14-year-old Cambridge boy arrested last week for allegedly groping two women has been charged with two similar crimes, Cambridge police said today.

On Jan. 5, two women called police around 7 p.m. to report that they had been groped by a man near Inman Square. Police were dispatched and arrested the juvenile, whose name has not been released, after the victims identified him. He was charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery, according to police.

Two days earlier, police had received calls from two other women at about 7 p.m. reporting that they had been assaulted by a man near Highland and Marie avenues, about a half-mile away from the Jan. 5 incidents. The first woman reported being groped, and the second said she was flashed. They also gave similar descriptions of the assailant. A follow-up investigation concluded that the 14-year-old suspect was linked to all four crimes, police said.

“It was this quick response, coupled with the follow-up work of our detectives, which was able to connect these incidents and bring closure to all four women who were victimized by this suspect,’’ Cambridge Deputy Superintendent Paul Ames said in a statement.
