New Hampshire man and woman found shot to death in vehicle in Arizona
A man and woman from New Hampshire were found shot to death in a station wagon at a scenic overlook in Arizona on Friday, according to authorities there.
About 11:30 a.m., sheriff deputies found the bodies of James Johnson, 62, of Jaffrey, and Carol Raynsford, 62, of Nelson, in a red Subaru with New Hampshire plates outside Sedona, Ariz., according to a statement released by the Yavapai County Sheriff today.
Detectives have not established a motive for the homicides.
Deputies recovered .223-caliber shell casings and other evidence indicating at least one suspect fired from outside the Subaru.
Witnesses reported seeing a pickup truck in the area before the bodies were discovered. Authorities are searching for a 1998 to 2002 white Dodge or Chevy half-ton truck with an old white camper shell and faded white paint that has red ribbons hanging from the rear-view mirror, according to the statement.
The overlook is off Highway 89A at mile 364. Sedona is about a two-hour drive north of Phoenix.
The sheriff’s office will hold a press conference tomorrow.
