Juvenile charged with groping two women in Cambridge

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with groping two women in Cambridge, but police have not charged anyone in two similar incidents earlier this week. .

Two women called police just before 7 p.m. on Thursday to report they had been groped by a man near Inman Square. Police dispatched patrol units and detectives who arrested a 14-year-old male.

The juvenile, whose name has not been released, was identified by the victims and has been charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery, according to police.

The first woman said she was groped on Elm Street between Broadway and Hampshire Streets. Exactly five minutes later, the second woman called police and reported that she was assaulted on Columbia Street. They were about a block apart.

On Tuesday, police received calls from two other women at about 7 p.m. reporting that they had been assaulted by a man near Youville Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, about a half-mile away from the Thursday incidents. The first woman reported being groped, and the second said she was flashed. They gave similar descriptions of the assailant and police said they were searching for a white man between 25 and 30 years old, with brown hair, who was wearing a dark coat.

Police today said the Tuesday and Thursday that the “incidents were similar’’ but did not say whether they believed them to be related.
