Two firefighters injured in early-morning Allston blaze

Two firefighters were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening after battling a two-alarm blaze in an Allston laundromat early this morning, the Boston Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded to 61 Franklin St. at 1:14 a.m., according to official tweets, and were still fighting the flames at 3:40 a.m.

The one-story building contained three businesses, including a laundromat, where the fire began inside the basement. The laundromat was vacant at the time.

The two firefighters were transported to to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

The damage from the fire was estimated at $250,000, the department said.
