James Franco’s Boston College-affiliated ‘Broken Tower’ out next year

In other local film release news, James Franco’s movie “The Broken Tower’’ will be released digitally on Jan. 10 by Focus World, a division of Focus Features. “Tower,’’ which was directed by Franco and features him in the starring role as 1920s beat poet Hart Crane, wasn’t filmed around Boston, but it’s based on Boston College professor Paul Mariani’s book about Crane, “The Broken Tower: The Life of Hart Crane.’’ Mariani even has a nice cameo in the film as Alfred Stieglitz. Franco premiered the film at BC, but it hasn’t been easy to find since then.
