Amtrak resumes New York-Boston rail service
Amtrak has resumed service this afternoon after a tree fall this morning temporarily suspended trips between New York and Boston.
One of two tracks is now operating, Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole said. As crews work to restore service on the second track, there may be some congestion delays along the route, though nothing longer than 45 minutes, he said.
The route was compromised after a tree fell onto the overhead wire system in Connecticut, the train service said.
The tree fell at about 8 a.m. today in Guilford, Conn., not far from the tracks, the advisory said. This resulted in a loss of power to trains.
Service between New York and Washington, D.C., was not affected.
