Best-selling author Jodi Picoult, whose latest book, “Sing You Home,’’ is about a lesbian who wants to get pregnant using frozen embryos, spoke about gay rights during an appearance at Harvard this week. It’s an issue Picoult has written about in the past and been particularly keen to discuss since her son, Kyle, told his parents two years ago that he is gay. Thursday’s event, arranged by Harvard’s Humanist Chaplain Greg Epstein, began with a performance by singer John Grant, whose album “Queen of Denmark’’ is about growing up gay in the Midwest.
