President Obama to visit New Hampshire Tuesday, White House says
WASHINGTON — President Obama is scheduled to visit New Hampshire next week to pitch his jobs bill, the next in a series of stops the White House confirmed today.
Although details have yet to be released, the president is expected to hold an event Tuesday in Manchester as part of his effort to drum up public support for the bill.
Obama, who is currently on a swing through the Far East in an effort to boost trade for US businesses, has spent much of the last month outside the White House, criss-crossing the country in a campaign-style effort to increase pressure on Congress to pass elements of his jobs bill.
A Republican filibuster in the Senate last month prevented a vote on the entire $447 billion package. Since then, the White House has been attempting to pass pieces of the package. Last Thursday, the Senate passed the first fragment, which offers tax incentives to businesses to hire veterans.
For the president, it will be his first visit to New England since his family vacation on Martha’s Vineyard in August.
