ICA throws bash at Logan

Just a few weeks after the MFA hosted a lavish party to mark the opening of its new Linde Wing for Contemporary Art, the ICA threw a no-holds-barred bash of its own. The Friday night fete celebrating the museum’s 75th anniversary included dinner for over 600 people in the Delta Airlines hangar at Logan – guests posed with a 737 that was parked in the room – a cacophonous cameo by performance artist Rashaad Newsome, a tribute to artist Barbara Krakow, and, thanks to DJ Kiss, a whole lot of late-night dancing. (Long after midnight, ICA director Jill Medvedow was still kickin’ out the jams.) The gala, which raised $1.9 million, attracted a bevy of boldfacers, including party co-chairs Fotene Demoulas and Tom Coté, Jodi and Hal Hess, Akris CEO Melissa Beste, architects Elizabeth Diller, Ric Scofidio and Charles Renfro, artists Isaac Julien and Jessica Jackson Hutchins (whose works are currently on display at the ICA), artists Kelly Sherman and Jane Maxwell, former ICA director David Ross, Harvard Business School’s Bob Pozen and wife, painter Liz Pozen, city planner Kairos Shen, nightcrawler Patrick Lyons and wife Kristina, Celtics co-owner Bob Epstein and wife Esta, Governor Deval Patrick’s chief of staff “Mo’’ Cowan, powerbroker Kevin Phelan, stylist Mario Russo, Chanel’s Mary Noble King, venture capitalist Dan Fireman, and restaurateurs Joanne Chang and Christopher Myers.
