Adele spotted in Boston after announcing vocal chord surgery

British singer Adele, who announced late last week that she’d be cancelling the rest of her 2011 performances to have surgery on her vocal cords, was spotted at Red Lantern on Stanhope Street with a few companions over the weekend. There’s no official word about why she’s in town, but it’s a safe bet that she’s come to Boston for her vocal chord repair. John Mayer was here earlier in the month to get for his own surgery (Mayer has been suffering from a granuloma near his vocal cords), and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has long depended on trips home to see Massachusetts General Hospital laryngeal surgeon and voice doctor Steven Marc Zeitels, who’s also helped Dick Vitale and Julie Andrews. No word on whether Adele is seeing Zeitels, but we hope she has a healthy stay here in Boston. (We also hope she knows that it usually don’t snow here in October.) Adele’s latest album, “21,’’ is spending its 13th week at No. 1, according to Billboard. The last disc to do that was the soundtrack to “Titanic.’’
