Are Mark Wahlberg and his ‘Fighter’ director … fighting?
Bad news for locals waiting for the sequel to “The Fighter.’’ TheWrap.com reports that Mark Wahlberg is angry with the film’s director, David O. Russell, because Wahlberg was supposed to star in Russell’s new feature — “The Silver Linings Playbook’’ — but Russell has instead given the role to Bradley Cooper. TheWrap quotes Russell’s cousin, Matt Muzio, who says that Russell chose Cooper over Wahlberg during a trip to Martha’s Vineyard over the summer, and that Bradley Cooper was chosen “because (Russell) felt he was hungrier and would work for cheaper.’’ Yikes. The story goes on to say that a source close to Wahlberg confirmed that the actor and Russell — who also worked together on “I Heart Huckabees’’ and “Three Kings’’ — aren’t speaking at the moment. Hmmm. If that’s the case, it’s hard to imagine Russell and Wahlberg will be getting to work any time soon on the sequel to the “The Fighter.’’
