Cambridge officer’s car is struck by bullets

A Cambridge police officer’s personal car was struck by bullets Wednesday afternoon when someone fired shots in East Cambridge, officials said.

There is no indication the unidentified female officer was targeted for any reason, said Cambridge police spokesman Dan Riviello. The shots were fired on Bristol Street, between Webster Avenue and Berkshire Street. No one was injured, and the officer was not in her car at the time.

“It was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time,’’ Riviello said.

The incident is under investigation. Police interviewed residents in the neighborhoood Wednesday night. Anyone with information is urged to call police at 617-349-3300.
