Deval Patrick to headline N.H. Democratic Party dinner

Governor Deval Patrick has been enlisted to address a marquee fund-raising event for Democrats in New Hampshire, the state his predecessor, Mitt Romney, is hoping to win in his quest for the Republican presidential nomination.

The Jefferson-Jackson Celebration will be held Nov. 5 at a location to be named.

“With our stunning upset victories in three special elections and plummeting Republican poll numbers, it’s clear even to the most ardent Republican that their party is out of touch with New Hampshire voters and New Hampshire values,’’ New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley said.

Romney is among the field of candidates vying to replace President Obama. He has made winning the New Hampshire primary the focal point of his primary campaign strategy.

The governor offers a special perspective because he not only took over Massachusetts from Romney in January 2007, but has implemented the universal health care program his predecessor signed into law.
