Patrick again heading out on a trip
Governor Deval Patrick is leaving town again, this time to speak at a conference in California featuring both Arianna Huffington, the political provocateur, and Michael Milken, the famed junk bond kingpin turned philanthropist.
Patrick will leave for Laguna Beach tomorrow for the Black Corporate Directors Conference, and return Saturday night, according to his staff.
He has spent all or part of over 60 days outside of Massachusetts this year, promoting the state on trade missions or on Capitol Hill, as well as vacationing and promoting his own book and campaigning for Democratic causes.
Patrick is scheduled to deliver “the conscience of the conference with Deval Patrick’’ after the “fireside chat with Mike Milken.’’
In addition to promoting his own book this year, the governor is also preparing to be a surrogate speaker for President Obama’s reelection campaign next year.
Huffington is scheduled to speak earlier in the day with Meg Whitman, the former eBay chief xecutive officer and Republican candidate for California governor.
Whitman previously worked for Patrick’s predecessor, former governor – and current GOP presidential candidate – Mitt Romney.
Patrick’s spokesman said that the governor’s travel expenses will be paid by conference organizers.
