Patrick officiates daughter’s weekend wedding

For most weddings, it’s hard enough to be the father of the bride, let alone anything else.

For Governor Deval Patrick this past weekend, he not only gave away his elder daughter but officiated at her marriage ceremony.

In an announcement today, the Governor’s Office revealed that Sarah Baker Patrick married Marco Morgese on Sunday at the Patricks’ “Sweet P Farm’’ in Richmond.

“The governor officiated at the ceremony,’’ said the spartan announcement. “The family plans to have a celebration for friends and extended family next summer.’’

No other details were immediately available. Patrick and his wife, first lady Diane Patrick, have a second daughter, Katherine.

The governor took off most of the month of August, taking vacations to Bermuda and Maine before spending over two weeks at his Berkshire Mountains home.

Last week, he bounced in and out of public view as he dealt with the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene and also visited the White House for a presidential infrastructure announcement.

Other days, though, he had no public events, prompting some media questions about his lack of visibility in the aftermath of the storm.

That he was preparing for a wedding was revealed only today.
