One Boston firefighter injured in Dorchester blaze that caused $300k in damage

A two-alarm fire sent a Boston firefighter to the hospital today, officials said.

At 2:22 p.m. firefighters responded to a call at 97 Mt. Ida Road in Dorchester, said Boston Fire spokesman Steve MacDonald.

The fire started on the upper floor of the family home, and melted siding on a neighboring residence.

Total damage is estimated to be about $300,000, MacDonald said. No one was home at the time.

One firefighter was transported to Boston Medical Center for treatment for smoke inhalation.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
