New Facebook game allows Sims to run on Dunkin’ joe

Dunkin’ Donuts and Electronic Arts Inc., or EA, said they are teaming up on a six-month initiative that will feature Dunkin’ Donuts products in a version of EA’s Sims Social Facebook game.

In the Sims Social game, players have characters called Sims that lead virtual lives. Players guide their Sims as they do such things as customize their homes and “create scandals or build meaningful relationships with other Sims characters,’’ Canton-based Dunkin’ Donuts and EA of California said in a press release.

As part of the Dunkin’ initiative, players will be able to gift one cup of coffee and one food item to their Facebook friends every month, the release said, and “players will be able to enjoy Dunkin’ Donuts menu items within the game.’’

The release included a statement from John Costello, chief global marketing and innovation officer at Dunkin’ Brands, the parent company of the Dunkin’ Donuts coffee-and-baked goods chain.

“Our integration with the Sims Social gives millions of players a fun and interactive way of connecting with Dunkin’ Donuts to get their Sims running in the morning and keep them running all day long with our coffee and donuts,’’ Costello said.
