Dorchester man wins $32m in lottery
A 47-year-old Dorchester man has won $32 million in the Mega Millions Lottery game, the Massachusetts State Lottery said this morning.
Candido Oliveira appeared at lottery headquarters at about 10:30 a.m. today, said lottery spokesman Beth Bresnahan.
He was deciding whether to take the money in a lump sum or in installments, Bresnahan said, and was expected to speak — and receive a check — at a news conference later in the morning.
The winning ticket — which matched all five Mega Millions numbers and the Mega Ball — was sold at a Tedeschi Food store on Neponset Avenue on Friday. The lucky numbers: 5-15-53-54-56 and Mega Ball 22.
Olivieira, who had up to a year to claim the prize, has a choice of a $22.9 million lump sum upfront or $32 million in installments over 26 years.
