Mass. GOP ‘welcomes’ Obama to Vineyard

The Massachusetts Republican Party is out with an super-snarky “welcome’’ letter as President Obama heads for his Martha’s Vineyard vacation later today.

“Hopefully, the accompanying influx of tourists will create some jobs on the island,’’ the party wrote, tongue firmly in cheek. “We bet your pal Governor Patrick will let you take credit for those, even if they take the last ferry off the island when you depart for the mainland. “

The note goes on to hit both the president and Governor Deval Patrick for supporting failed solar energy manufacturers. And it tweaks Obama again for supporting Attorney General Martha Coakley in her failed campaign against Republican Scott Brown to succeed the late US Senator Edward M. Kennedy, a fellow Democrat.

“If you get tired of paying $20 for lobster rolls (island prices!) give us a call, we can point you to a wicked good clam shack at Revere Beach,’’ the party wrote.

It closed with the following postscript hitting the president for the new Secret Service vehicle he used this week on his Midwest bus tour.

“Aerosmith wants their tour bus back,’’ it read.
