Barbecues run on Dunkin’
For the discerning gourmet with a jones for java and red meat, it may not get much better than this — a late-breaking recipe from Dunkin’ Donuts for a “coffee BBQ rub.’’
What with the convergence of Father’s Day and the arrival of the summer grilling season, the Canton-based coffee-and-baked goods chain decided that the time is now right for unveiling recipes for rubs and Dunkin’ dark roast coffee brine, which can be used to perk up pork or chicken, according to the chain’s food scientists.
Herewith the recipe for the rub: two tablespoons of paprika, two teaspoons of onion powder, two teaspoons of garlic powder (Whew!), one tablespoon of mustard powder, one teaspoon of cayenne pepper, one tablespoon of chili powder, a dash of brown sugar, two tablespoons of kosher salt, one teaspoon of black pepper — and drumroll, please — three tablespoons of Original Blend Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee.
Combine all of the rub ingredients in a bowl and mix well, Dunkin says, then “generously rub the mixed spices onto the ribs.’’
Of course, there’s another way to do this. Take a 24-ounce cup of Dunkin’ coffee, fire up the grill, and then drizzle some joe onto your favorite hogmeats. And — voila! — an al fresco feast fit for an uber chef.
