Few things are more frustrating to a music fan than hearing that a favorite act is coming to town, only to find out that the show is sold out. We’re here to help you avoid that pitfall — and the overpriced secondary ticket market — by consulting local experts like Bridget Gillis, of Live Nation, Christine Varriale, of Bowery Boston, and Shawn Robidoux, of The Wilbur. Below, check out a handful of live shows we’ve heard are dangerously low on tickets.
San Cisco
These Aussie indie-poppers have spent the last decade slowly and steadily building an ever-growing fanbase, hummable hook by hummable hook. They bring their boy-girl harmonies to Allston on Thursday night. Varriale advises you not to expect to pick up a ticket at the door; they’ll likely be sold out by then(Thursday, June 20 at 9 p.m.; Great Scott, Allston; $15; 18+; with Carla Geneve; tickets available here)
Fitz and The Tantrums
Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick and his Tantrums do an ace job of blending neo soul and pop, incorporating piano, sax, and soulful vocals in a way that’s old school and new school. Their summer-long, co-headlining jaunt with rockers Young The Giant comes to the Pavilion this weekend. Gillis said there are still some tickets left. Third Eye Blind
Speaking of co-headlining tours, 90s hitmakers Third Eye Blind are hitting the road this summer with emo rockers Jimmy Eat World for the aptly-titled “Summer Gods Tour,” which comes to Boston in July. Indie-pop mainstay Ra Ra Riot opens, so expect a night full of sunny, summery sounds. Dionysia
This Boston-based alt-rock act is coming off a handful of sold-out shows. They sold out their last local gig at Great Scott back in March. Now they’re playing a bigger room — The Sinclair in Cambridge — and the venue is tweeting that tickets are almost sold out. Chris Issak
It’s likely you know Chris Issak from one of two places: the sultry video for his 1989 single “Wicked Game” or his cameo as Special Agent Chet Desmond in the 1992 film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.
