A Washington state man, who allegedly shares goals with Nihilistic Violent Extremists, has been charged with threatening to kill a minor in Massachusetts, among other charges.
Joseph Pacheco, 23, of Everett, Washington, was charged with five counts of transmitting threatening communications in interstate commerce and one count each of knowingly distributing child pornography to a minor and possession and distribution of animal crushing videos, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Pacheco’s conversations with the victim and his social media accounts indicated he shared goals with Nihilistic Violent Extremists, officials said.
NVEs reportedly engage in criminal conduct to further their goal of causing society to collapse through chaos and social instability. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said, “NVEs frequently use social media to connect with individuals, particularly minors, to desensitize them to violence by breaking down societal norms regarding the commission of violent acts, normalizing the possession and distribution of [child sexual abuse materials] as well as gore material and otherwise corrupting and grooming the individuals towards committing future acts of violence.”
Throughout June and July 2025, Pacheco allegedly sent the threatening messages.
Pacheco is expected to appear in a Boston federal court at a later date, which has not yet been set.
