Bostonians planning trips to Maine and other New England destinations this month can save money traveling on Amtrak.
Travelers can ring in the new year with $26 roundtrip fares (and $13 one-way fares) on Amtrak’s Downeaster, which runs between Boston’s North Station and Brunswick, Maine. The deal is good through Jan. 28 for trips taken by Jan. 31.
The discounted fare is a great reason for planning winter day trips and exploring new destinations, wrote Amtrak, all while avoiding bad weather driving, parking fees, and city traffic.
The Downeaster services Wells, Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Portland, Freeport, and Brunsick in Maine, as well as Boston, Woburn, and Haverhill in Mass. and Exeter, Durham, and Dover in N.H.
The sale is for coach seats only and fares are subject to availability. Travelers should use the promo code V530 when booking and must book at least three days in advance of the travel period.
The Amtrak Downeaster is a 146-mile regional passenger train with an onboard Downeaster Café and free Wifi.
For those visiting Maine, travelers can save money on food and lodging this winter during Winter Weekdays, a statewide program in which businesses slash prices on food, beverages, and accommodations on certain days during the week.
