Boston is an exciting place for travel this year, says Afar magazine.
In the article “Why we’re flocking to Boston in 2026,” published Tuesday, the magazine lauded the city’s restaurants, green spaces, arts, and special celebrations planned this year.
“Ahead of cohosting the 2026 World Cup—and celebrating America’s 250th birthday with an epic Fourth of July bash—Boston is in the spotlight for its generous green space, award-winning restaurants, burgeoning art scene, and diverse neighborhoods,” wrote Afar.
Seven FIFA World Cup matches will take place in the area this summer, wrote Afar, and other exciting summer events include Boston Harborfest and a visiting fleet of Tall Ships.
For travelers seeking more history, the publication recommended checking out places like Granary Burying Ground and Old North Church. Meanwhile, green spaces worth exploring include the Rose Kennedy Greenway, Boston Common, and the Public Garden.
For the “most memorable meals,” visitors should eat at Comfort Kitchen, Mooncusser, Parziale’s Bakery, and Mai, wrote Afar, and for shopping check out Newbury Street and Milk Money, Trident Booksellers & Cafe, and Sitka Home Art Gallery.
Travelers seeking music and art will enjoy Grace by Nia, Symphony Hall, Wally’s Cafe Jazz Club, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, wrote the magazine.
As for where to stay, Afar recommended booking a room at Raffles Boston, Langham Boston, and the Whitney Hotel.
