You can celebrate America’s 250th anniversary at sea during a round-trip cruise from Boston in 2026.
Seattle-based Holland America Line just announced a seven-day “America’s 250th Celebration: Stars & Stripes Voyage” focused on America’s semiquincentennial.
The trip, aboard the company’s Zuiderdam ship, departs from Boston on July 4, 2026, and includes an overnight visit to New York City, a special call at Norfolk, Virginia, and also a visit to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
Passengers will leave from Boston after enjoying Boston’s daylong celebrations and the Freedom Trail, and experience a front-row seat to the iconic fireworks display in Boston Harbor.
Once in Virginia, passengers can explore three Virginia towns known as the “Historic Triangle”: Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown.
“Jamestown and Yorktown are two names synonymous with the birth of the United States,” Holland America Line officials said in a statement. “One is famous as England’s first colony, and the other is known as the young country’s last major battle against the British Crown. Each played a pivotal role in the early days of America.”
In New York, passengers can experience “Sail 4th 250” tall ships flotilla, where the largest fleet of the world’s tall ships and gray hull ships are assembled in New York Harbor.
“Along with the majestic tall ships flotilla, a diverse array of events, festivities and celebrations will be held across the entire region to educate, entertain and engage audiences from across the country and across all communities,” according to the event website.
Fares begin at $1,459 per person and include port fees and taxes.
