Rhode Island travelers can again enjoy sunsets from a rooftop bar in downtown Providence that is reopening next month with a new look.
Blu Violet, atop the hotel Aloft Providence Downtown, will welcome guests on Feb. 6 after an eight-week long, $500,000 renovation.
The hotel, located in the Innovation & Design District, offers sweeping views of the Providence Jewelry District, Providence River, Waterplace Park, and the Point Street Bridge from its Blu Violet perch.

The bar’s new space, full of rich textures, dramatic tones, plush seating, and warm light, “blends dark, sultry design elements with a modern speakeasy vibe,” according to a press release.

“We wanted Blu Violet to feel like a hidden gem in the sky, sexy, stylish, and unforgettable,” said Damaris Messina, general manager of Aloft Providence Downtown, in a statement. “The refreshed design cultivates an inviting setting that encourages guests and locals to relax, savor the sunset, indulge in exceptional after-work drinks, and experience Providence from a renewed perspective.”

Rooftop guests will enjoy a curated wine and cocktail program with signature drinks, premium spirits, and a globally-influenced wine selection as well as small plates designed for sharing.

The seven-story Aloft Providence Downtown opened in 2021 and is managed by Marriott International. Other dining and social experiences at the hotel include its signature lobby bar W XYZ as well as Yellow Door Taqueria and Esther’s High Dive.
Providence was named one of the 26 places to go in New England in 2026 for its vibrant neighborhoods, historic architecture, and year-round events.
