Guided tours immerse visitors in the history of a destination, and four of the best in America are in New England, according to Viator.

The online marketplace for tours, activities, and attractions just released its 2025 Viator Experience Awards for the USA, naming the top 20 experiences in America, and four local tours made the cut: Boston: Freedom Trail History Small Group Walking Tour; The Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small Group Boston Walking Tour; Hauntings of Salem Guided Walking Tour; and Newport Gilded Age Mansions Trolley Tour with Breakers Admission.

“From Emerald Cave kayaking trips and Little Havana food tours to spooky Salem ghost walks, there’s something for every kind of traveler looking to explore and experience all that the US has to offer,” wrote Viator, a Tripadvisor company, about its top 20 list.

Meanwhile, those who go on the Full Revolutionary Story Epic Small Group Walking Tour walk the Freedom Trail in the same order that the American Revolution happened and experience modern Boston as well as historical Boston.

Guests on the Hauntings of Salem Guided Walking Tour take in 400 years of Salem history, including the 1692 Salem Witch Trials, and tour city architecture that dates back to the early colonial period.

Finally, during the Newport Gilded Age Mansions Trolley Tour with Breakers Admission visitors see more than 150 points of interest along Ocean Drive, Bellevue Avenue, Cliff Walk, and more before touring the Breakers, a historic Vanderbilt mansion.

Viator, which offers more than 300,000 bookable experiences around the world, ranked the top experiences based on a number of factors, including traveler review scores, review volumes, and booking volumes over the last year.
