Nova Scotia ferry expected to start service this summer

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A ferry service that will take passengers from Portland to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, is expected to begin this summer.
The Portland Press Herald reports that operator Bay Ferries Ltd. says the high-speed catamaran called “The Cat” was refloated Wednesday after more than a month in drydock for repairs and refitting.
The Cat is 349 feet long and can carry as many as 866 passengers.
Bay Ferries says the ship is about to exit the drydock in Charleston, South Carolina, and then undergo inspection, some final work and dock and sea trials.
The vessel is expected to enter service on June 15.
The ship will replace the Nova Star, a ferry that had operated the Portland-Nova Scotia run since 2014.
