18 Blooms to Celebrate 18 Days Until Spring
The countdown to spring is on.
It’s been a long, long, long winter.
But we made it to March, Boston! And now the countdown is on.
We are 18 days away from the first day of spring. And spring means flowers. In honor of this month’s spring arrival, let’s forget for a moment that we might still be staring at snowbanks until June, and gaze at these gorgeous blooms in all their colorful, delicate, and good-weather-related glory.
The Boston Flower & Garden Show will take over the Seaport World Trade Center from March 11 to 15. Here are 18 images from previous shows, one for each day of winter we have left to endure.
We can do this, Boston. We can make it another 18 days.

Forget the white snowbanks. Let’s think about white tulips.

Think pink: a gerbera daisy.

Imagine this scene while you’re snowblowing…Ahhh.

A pink Medinilla magnifica plant.

Hydrangeas.

Yellow chrysanthemums.

This makes ice dams seem a world away, eh?

Anthuriums aplenty.

Brian O’Neill of Malden tended to his exhibit last year.

Forget roof rakes. Think roses.

Kristen Van Dijk of Sudbury set up her exhibit last year.

Flowers, flowers, flowers. We know you are coming.

Spring, we love you.

Soon Boston gardens will be full of colors like this. OK, maybe not that soon. But it’s coming.

Let’s daydream about the potted plants we’ll buy for our porches, hmm?

Shovel, shmovel. Look at this.

Garden art.

Immerse yourself in flowers at the show this month.
