One Family’s Thanksgiving Nightmare: Dinner at Hooters (With Teenage Boys)

Eric Silva/Boston.com staff

When we asked readers to share their Thanksgiving travel horror stories, Georgina.Zala told us how she unexpectedly wound up eating dinner at Hooters with her sons.

We took the liberty of illustrating her story. Now find out how it happened:

A few years ago, my sons and I decided to pay my elderly aunt a surprise Thanksgiving visit. She is 80 and always stays home. When we arrived from Boston to Fort Lauderdale, it turned out my aunt was not home — not even in the city. So much about showing up uninvited. We were looking for a place to eat and the only place we found open was a Hooters. It was more hilarious than sad. We had a good meal and my 15- and 16-year-old boys got a funny view of Thanksgiving.

Thanks for your entry, Georgina.Zala, and we’d like to wish all of our readers happy, horror-free travels this Thanksgiving.
