JetBlue Could Add Premium Seating from Boston
The chief executive of JetBlue Airways, David Barger, announced this week he hopes to expand the airline’s premium seating to its transcontinental flights from Boston to Los Angeles and San Francisco, according to The Boston Globe.
The Queens, N.Y.-based airline previously offered only a single coach-only cabin. In June, it added a business class cabin, known as Mint, on planes flying nonstop from the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York to the Los Angeles International Airport. The premium seating will be available for all flights going from New York to San Francisco in October.
The Mint cabin seats recline into full beds and include four private suites. The seats cost $599 to $999 for one-way tickets.
Barger said the company has not yet officially decided to add the seating to JetBlue flights from Logan Airport. If approved, the seats would be available by early 2016, following a year-long trial period in New York.
