Austin, Texas, is a thriving metropolis known as the live music capital of the world. From Oct. 12-14, the Austin City Limits Music Festival will bring muscians of all genres to stages in Zilker Park. The lineup includes the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Florence + The Machine, and many more. The festival is a fall staple in Austin, but just a small part of the city. If you are heading to the festival, here are some typical city life scenes you might see.

The Continental Club was opened in 1957 as a private supper club that hosted acts like Glen Miller and Tommy Dorsey. In the 1960s it became a burlesque club. -

Swimmers enjoy the Barton Springs Pool in Austin. Barton Springs is a 68-degree spring-fed swimming hole on the edge of downtown Austin in Zilker Park where the Austin City Limits Music Festival also takes place.

A statue honoring Willie Nelson stands at the entrance to the new Austin City Limits Live, a music venue that hosts 60-100 concerts a year. It is also the home of the PBS series “Austin City Limits,’’ a long-running TV music series.

The Texas capitol building in Austin was crafted in 1888 from pink granite mined from Marble Falls, Texas. The visitors center offers free exhibits on the history of Texas.

Cyclists ride along the hike and bike trail on Lady Bird Lake. The 10.1-mile trail runs along the Colorado River through downtown under the Austin skyline.
