The Tip: walking to the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls

Lisa Leavitt FOR THE BOSTON GLOBE

There’s no denying that the Canadian side of Niagara Falls is far more built up and travel-friendly than the US side. But if you’re only here to see the falls, especially for one night, as we were on a recent trip, it’s worthwhile to stay on the US side. While the line for cars waiting to go through Canadian customs was at least an hour long, we simply threw our bags down at the Sheraton on the New York side and walked across Rainbow Bridge. Passports in hand, we were in Canada in less than 15 minutes and we had the exquisite view of the falls on our left for the entire walk. Plus, it’s one of the rare opportunities to stroll into another country.
