Seafood lovers can choose from a wealth of tasty options when dining out in New England, but six regional restaurants are doing it best this year, according to Yelp.
Yelp recently named the best seafood restaurant in every U.S. state in 2025, with the following winners in New England: Turner’s Seafood in Salem, Mass.; Supreme Seafood Restaurant in North Branford, Conn.; Paella Seafood in Portland, Maine; Hooked Seafood Restaurant in Manchester, N.H.; Matunuck Oyster Bar in South Kingstown, R.I.; and The Gryphon in Burlington, Vermont.
Internet searches for seafood are on the rise, according to the review website, jumping 34 percent in 2024. What’s more, searches have increased 81 percent for seafood boils, 23 percent for oyster bars, and 10 percent for ceviche.
Yelp described New England’s top seafood restaurants using enthusiastic quotes from reviewers.
At Turner’s Seafood in Massachusetts, the “rich and creamy” lobster bisque is such a favorite that it has “its own fan club of more than 300 Yelper reviews.”
The lobster rolls and fried-fish platters at Connecticut’s Supreme Seafood Restaurant are “perfection on a plate.”
The signature paella at Maine’s Paella Seafood, full of prawns, mussels, calamari, and more, is “seafood heaven.”
A favorite at New Hampshire’s Hooked Seafood Restaurant is the New England lobster roll filled with “big meaty chunks.”
At Rhode Island’s Matunuck Oyster Bar, “The oysters are so fresh and ‘wonderfully briny’ that they only need a touch of sauce, say fans.'”
Finally, one of the specialties at Vermont’s The Gryphon is the Vineyard Chowder, according to Yelp.
“Full of shrimp, scallops, clams, crab, haddock, and potatoes in a coastal New England–style seafood broth, the chowder is ‘beyond excellent’ say reviewers.”
Yelp comprised its list by ranking restaurants with a large concentration of reviews mentioning “seafood” using geographic location, the total volume and ratings of reviews, and other factors.
