Guy Fieri shares his Houston food faves for Super Bowl weekend
With Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives in its 26th season, Food Network host Guy Fieri has visited nearly 1,000 restaurants. Ahead of Super Bowl LI, he shared his recommendations for fans dining out in Houston, the site of Sunday’s big game between the Patriots and Falcons.
“Houston is a go-big-or-go-home kind of town,” he says. “There’s such an eclectic mix of people that you’re always going to find amazing food, whether it’s real-deal BBQ, Tex Mex or something you wouldn’t expect.”
For those looking for an authentic Texan meal, Fieri suggests Lankford Grocery for unique made-to-order burgers or T Bone Tom’s for a classic steak doused in the restaurant’s special marinade.
Another of his Houston favorites is Kenny and Ziggy’s, an authentic New York deli located in Uptown Houston. Featured on “Triple D” in 2009, the restaurant is known for a famous eight-decker corned beef sandwich called the Zellagabetsky. The menu offers 11 other triple-decker pastrami varieties.
If you’re trying to find a spot to watch the game, food, atmosphere and company are all obvious considerations to make when finalizing your choice, but Fieri says not to forget the one key element: “lots of big TV screens so you don’t miss any of the action.”
Wherever you end up in Houston, Fieri is confident you’ll not only find something that suits your palate but also have a good time while doing so.
“Houston knows how to throw a party!” he says.
