Welcome back to Scenic Six.
We made it to March, which means spring is nearly here. As excited as I am for that, I was reminded of New England’s winter beauty during a recent overnight stay with friends on Newfound Lake in the Lakes Region of central New Hampshire. I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the ice fishing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing at the serene and beautiful lake (and I may have made a snow angel or two!).
Hats off to the social media team at Tampa International Airport, who sparked nationwide debate over airport attire last week after suggesting in a humorous post on X that travelers should be banned from wearing pajamas. Find out how local readers feel about a possible pajama ban at Logan. This week I’m also sharing details about the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Maine Maple Sunday, and a pick-your-own daffodil farm in Connecticut.

I am not a pajama wearer when I travel. But I do dress for comfort. After Tampa International Airport jokingly suggested a pajama ban last week, I asked local travelers if they’d like to see one in Boston and more than 200 readers responded with passionate viewpoints on both sides of the issue. “I’d rather be comfortable than well dressed on a plane,” wrote Ryan from Manchester. Read more responses from local travelers.

Destination weddings are a lot of fun, especially for Massachusetts residents Evan Stark and Kristyn Brophy Stark, who recently said their vows before family and friends at Vermont’s Killington. I chatted with the skiing enthusiasts, who described how they worked a celebratory run into their big day (during very cold conditions!).

Have you driven the famous Hairpin Turn on Route 2 in the Berkshires during the winter months? I have and it’s not for the faint of heart! But the colorful icicles cascading down the rock sure are beautiful. Find out how they get their color and what else there is to do in that area.

I’ll leave you with this photo I took of a frozen and beautiful Newfound Lake in New Hampshire.
