Welcome back to Scenic Six.

It’s the month of love, and for couples seeking a quaint pastoral escape, a North Shore inn was just named an excellent Valentine’s Day getaway.

This week, I’m also writing about the safest airlines for 2026, Boston’s Frostival (complete with a Ferris wheel ride), a Parade of Lights in New Hampshire, a one-day flash sale at Great Wolf Lodge, and more.

A Rowley hotel is feeling the love this Valentine’s Day

The 30-room Briar Barn Inn in Rowley was just named a rural hideaway great for a Valentine’s Day getaway by The Hotel Guru in a worldwide list. With fireplaces and four-poster beds, a spa, and an on-site restaurant, the hotel is the perfect recipe for a romantic escape, according to the ranking.

Safety in the skies

Two of Logan Airport’s leading airlines, JetBlue and Delta Air Lines, just ranked among the safest in 2026 by AirlineRatings.com. The ranking is based on fleet age, serious incidents, safety audits, and more.

Mentally escape the cold with these Cape Cod beach pics

With low temperatures in the single digits, I think we could all use some beach eye candy right about now. So I rounded up these beautiful photos of Cape Cod beaches to help us through this chill. We just booked our annual summer stay in Harwich so I’m looking forward to making these photos a reality in about five months. Stay warm, everyone!

Travel tips:

  • Enjoy sweeping views of Boston’s skyline this winter from a Ferris wheel on the Rose Kennedy Greenway during the citywide Boston Frostival, taking place through March 1.
  • Witness more than 800 lit up snowmobiles during the 2026 Parade of Lights in Pittsburg, N.H. on March 7. The event, which takes place on Back Lake, supports the local fire department.
  • Martha Stewart’s first East Coast restaurant, The Bedford by Martha Stewart, opens at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. on March 14. It is inspired by her iconic New York country farmhouse.

Deals and steals:

  • Families can take advantage of a one-day flash sale at Great Wolf Lodge, which has locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut, on Friday, Feb. 6. Travelers will pay $26 per person per night, good for stays through June 18. Each stay includes access to the property’s indoor water park, on-site dining, MagiQuest game, and more. The promo code is 2626.
  • Six Flags fans can get a free upgrade to a Gold season pass for the price of a Silver pass during a limited-time promotion. Also, passholders will have access to multiple regional parks beginning this year.
