Welcome back to Scenic Six.

Lighthouses and waterfalls make great spring day trips and we’re fortunate to have so many gorgeous ones across New England. This week, map out your adventure along the Massachusetts Lighthouse Trail, discover Granite State waterfalls, book a daffodil tour in Rhode Island, discover the region’s top seafood restaurants, and more.

Follow the Massachusetts Lighthouse Trail

I never tire of visiting lighthouses and some of my favorite memories include two in Massachusetts: picnicking beside Nantucket’s remote Great Point Lighthouse and the views from atop Edgartown Harbor Light on Martha’s Vineyard. Check out those structures and more along the Massachusetts Lighthouse Trail

Craving seafood? These restaurants won’t disappoint, according to Yelp

New England has countless seafood restaurants, and six were just named the very best in the region by Yelp. Yelpers are using phrases such as “seafood heaven” and “perfection on a plate” when describing meals there. Get details about the standout restaurants and tell us your favorite.

A Maine campground was named among the most unique in America

I love the sense of community on a campground and we’ve met so many friendly campers in wooded havens from the White Mountains to the Grand Canyon. If you enjoy great community spaces on a campground too, Boothbay Craft Brewery, Tavern & RV Resort, which has a beer garden, was just named among the most unique in America.

Travel Tips

  • Looking for a different way to celebrate the holidays this spring? Boston Harbor City Cruises just announced lunch and brunch cruises for both Easter and Mother’s Day.
  • Early spring is excellent for waterfall viewing due to a combination of snowmelt and spring rain. New Hampshire has many great waterfalls, some of which are visible from the road and others that require a hike.
  • Enjoy Daffodil Days this spring at Blithewold Manner, Gardens, & Arboretum, a 33-acre seaside estate in Bristol, R.I. that boasts 100,000 daffodils in 80 varieties. Book a daffodil tour April 9-23.

Deals and Steals

  • In celebration of the Red Sox home opener on April 4, South Street Diner in Boston is serving up free all-you-can-eat Fenway Franks between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. with the purchase of any beverage.
  • Restaurant Week for Portsmouth and the seacoast in New Hampshire takes place April 10-19, when more than 30 restaurants will offer special three-course prix fixe menus for $32, $42, and $52.
  • During Amtrak‘s Train to Maine BOGO promotion, travelers who buy one adult fare ticket can get another for half price through Dec. 31. Tickets must be purchased at least three days ahead of travel and the discount is not valid for travel in business class. The promotional code is v114.

I’ll leave you with this photo of a recent pink sky over the city, taken by Kristiana.
