Welcome back to Scenic Six.

Let’s talk deals. Because who doesn’t love saving money when they travel? I’m sharing info about March discounts across New England on everything from food to museums to hotels. Plus, St. Patrick’s Day fun and two regional small towns were named among America’s top destinations for an artsy getaway.

Travel for less with these March money-saving tips

Traveling expenses add up quickly, but there are discounts available for those who know where to look. Check out this running list of travel deals on food, transportation, hotels, and activities across New England in March (including free museum admission, hotel nights, and skiing!)

Book an artsy getaway

If live music, dance, theater, and art galleries describe your dream itinerary for a New England getaway, head to Old Lyme, Connecticut or Stowe, Vermont, according to USA Today. Both destinations were recently named among America’s best small town arts scenes and called “must-visit” spots.

Attention lovers of the childhood classic “The Sandlot”: Nantucket is calling. The design team of a 65-year-old island hotel took inspiration from the 1993 movie when transforming the Beachside Hotel into a family-friendly resort that opens in May. Take a look inside

Travel Tips

  • Southie’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, presented by the South Boston Allied War Veterans Council, takes place March 16 at 11:30 a.m. Plan your spot along this year’s route. And prepare for crowds!
  • The Preservation Society of Newport County is bringing back the Newport Symposium, after a five-year hiatus due to COVID, with two major events this year: “Newport ‘Piccolo Simposio’: Italian Influence in Newport” on April 3 at Rosecliff and “The French Influence in Newport” Nov. 6-8 at Rosecliff and Marble House. (While details are currently available for the first event in April, keep an eye on the society’s webpage for more info on the second event happening this fall.)
  • Worried that excessive rain will ruin your vacation? JetBlue now offers trip protection for that, courtesy of a partnership with WeatherPromise. In other JetBlue news, the airline is launching nonstop seasonal service between Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and the Big Apple on June 12.

Deals & Steals

  • Looking to save money next ski season? The 2025/26 Epic Pass goes on sale March 4, the 2025/26 Ikon Pass goes on sale March 13, and the 2025/26 Indy Pass is on sale now. Six new ski resorts have been added to the latter, including Burke Mountain in Vermont and Tenney Mountain in New Hampshire.
  • Travelers can save up to 50% off camping trips at RV parks, cabins, campgrounds, and more March 3-9 during Campspot’s biggest booking week. Those interested can use the code BIGGEST25.
  • During Maine Restaurant Week, taking place March 1-12, diners can snag three-course meals for $38, $48, and $58, as well as various food specials. Check out the participating restaurants.

I’ll leave you with this photo of Bostonians enjoying a recent snow day, taken by Nicholas John Hayes.
