Welcome back to Scenic Six.
The bitter cold temperatures this month require daydreaming about warm weather getaways, don’t you think? In that vein, I have info about summer camping reservations at DCR parks this season, spring break deals on flights, and why your springtime road trips should include two local towns just named among America’s best.
A new year means new possibilities for camping adventures. Reservations recently opened for camping at Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) parks statewide during the 2025 season. My kids have been asking about going camping this summer. What’s better than relaxing by a fire and roasting marshmallows underneath a starry sky?
As we welcome the month of March and the arrival of spring (hooray!), there are plenty of ways to have free fun across the city of Boston both inside and out. There’s free live music, fun museum and book store programs, and, of course, Boston’s iconic St. Patrick’s Day Parade happening on March 16.
Who’s ready for a spring road trip? Rockport, Mass. and Tamworth, N.H. were just named among America’s best small towns for 2025. While I haven’t yet been to Tamworth (adding it to my list!), I can vouch for beautiful Rockport where I have explored the unique shops and galleries on Bearskin Neck as well as Halibut Point State Park. The town clerk there once told me that Rockport is “Massachusetts at its best.”
I’ll leave you with this photo of the Boston Harbor taken by Kristiana Dreaden.
